Washington Feb 24 The sixty third Congress ends its longest session. President Wilson blocks a key committee move on cotton relief. Representative Henry of Texas stalls the filibuster, and Congress adjourns after voting to recess for three days until after the election. The session failed to pass Smith Lever Warehouse, federal reserve amendments, or other relief measures.
Professor George Laawese of the Presbyterian College translated a German letter written from Berlin to the benefit of The Star. The author says the war is dreadful but not Germany’s wish and promises unity and victory, noting government care and national enthusiasm.
