Woodstock Ironworks tears down Furnace No 3 at its plant to rebuild it at a cost of 115000 completing by February 1 raising daily capacity from 190 to 300 tons. Upon completion Furnace 4 will be relined and ready to boost total pig iron output to 600 tons daily The company aims permanent operation in Anniston.

Freight wreck near Piedmont disrupts passenger service
A double header extra freight train derailed about a mile south of Piedmont this morning injuring no one. Several cars were demolished and the southbound Southern passenger train was forced to detour via Bb. & W. to Duke and then to Anniston along L. & N. track.

Paul Romare of Atlanta as trustee for bondholders filed in the U S Circuit Court at Birmingham a bill to foreclose a deed of trust on machinery and 3156 acres of Broken Arrow Coal and Mining lands securing bonds totaling 107750. The defendants allegedly defaulted on interest,The Mines leased to Coal City Coal and Coke Company, now mining the coal, threatening bond security. Hearing set October 30, 1901 for a receiver.
