Boy Captures Escaped Convict Near Sparta
The 16 year old son of a farmer near Sparta Illinois captured Ed De Jayner who escaped from Southern Illinois Penitentiary at Chester last night. Armed with a shotgun he marched the convict two miles into town and handed him to authorities. De Jayner, who said he would be released November 11, is said to have served several terms and claimed duties at a brick kiln. The boy, praised for his nerve, will receive a reward of 850.
