He slipped and fell toward the moving coach but two officers grabbed him just in time. The wheels passed within inches, sparking a crowd to rush to his aid and offer congratulations on his safety.
President Wilson announces acceptance of operators terms ending six months of stoppage in the anthracite region. Miners will return to work as soon as practicable and collieries will resume operation within days after talks with miners unions officials in WilkesBarre Pennsylvania.
Washington Oct 16 The president after talks with Mitchell and coal operators appointed a six plus one recorder arbitration commission to settle all issues between operators and miners in the anthracite fields. Brig Gen John M Wilson E W Parker George Gray B E Clark Thomas H Watkins Bishop John L Spalding Carroll D Wright will form the panel with Wright as recorder The miners and operators approve the lineup and calls for immediate resumption of mining next week.
