The late Ed Mund L. Tyler’s funeral was held at Grace Episcopal Church at 3 0 o clock with Rev. J G Glass and Rev. J H Blacklock officiating. Burial followed in Hillside cemetery as a large crowd paid respects. Attendees included Legion of Honor members and relatives from distant cities. Pallbearers were A F P Agee Wade Allen J B Goodwin J B Knox D H Parker M B Wellborn J J Willett and BH A Young.

Special to the Star Nashville report details a major Columbia Tennessee blaze that destroyed an entire Main Street block, with losses totaling about 80 000 including saloons clothing stores groceries bakeries and several buildings. Insurance stood at 50 000. Numerous firms and proprietors suffered heavy damages.

The Oakwood manual training school near Huntsville burned last night. William Willingham, a Black student, died trying to save personal effects as the building collapsed. Loss estimated at 3000 dollars, coverage 2000 dollars. only a typewriter survived. students lost nearly all clothing. Oakwood is run by Seventh Day Adventists for Negroes.

Five Hurt in Gotham Gas Explosion Caused by Dynamite
Five men were seriously hurt in a gas explosion on Forty fourth Street and First Avenue in New York City after a premature dynamite blast ruptured a gas main. The escaping gas ignited, causing a second explosion. a worker was thrown from the trench and nearby structures suffered broken windows and damage.
