Police in Louisville report thirty bodies found in a cold storage shed behind an ice cream factory. Authorities say the cadavers were obtained from Kentucky institutions and may have been brought from Indianapolis, with evidence of stolen bodies and attempts to access the shed during the investigation.
Recorder's matinee drew lively crowds with a varied mourners bench including plain and starred drinkers. Donations to the cash box totaled about $40 as Mayor Pro Tem McKleroy closed the show with a jest and a blessing to "go your way and sin no more."
Bodies found in boxes are well preserved. The state provides the corpses to several Louisville medical colleges for thirty days for identification. A cold storage plant and an arrangement with an ice cream plant supply cooling air to aid identification.
Col J A Blount moves to Gadsden on November 1 to oversee the Gadsden Car Foundry and Machine Co after purchasing the Proctor Machine Works. The combined plant, on the L and N and N B rail lines, will be a leading local facility with offices in Atlanta Birmingham and New Orleans. Blount remains tied to Legarde Lime and Stone and has long resided in Anniston with many friends.
