Thanksgiving was observed in Anniston with banks post office and many businesses closed for half day. Schools and colleges also closed. Families gathered for reunions and meals while churches held services. A football game between Anniston and Jacksonville drew crowds at the baseball park. Social events followed as residents returned to work refreshed.
The November flood in St Petersburg floods destroyed crops and homes, drove 20 000 factory workers into the streets, and forced mass displacement. In Cropstadt heavy property loss occurred and coffins washed from graves at a cemetery before being reinterred. the czar donated 5000 dollars in aid to affected families.
A Virginia mother soothed her burn by applying Chamberlain's Pain Balm to her child after a Saturday bath accident. The balm quickly calmed the child and he recovered within two weeks. The advertisement notes Pain Balm as an antiseptic liniment valued for burns cuts and sprains and lists Wikle druggist as a seller.
Washington reports the issue of patents on November 24 to Alabama residents. Covping assigned to Wilmer Miles and N. E. Mathews of Lopez. Elastier-fluid turbine assigned to James Wilkinson of Birmingham. Metallic rail-tie assigned to H. S. Jeffers of Anniston with half to W. T. Dawkins Jr. of Aberdeen Mississippi.
In New Bern North Carolina Samuel Lancaster keeper of the draw of Neuse river bridge left a loaded gun within reach. His 12 year old daughter Lottie picked up the gun and, in an accident, fired both barrels. Mavilia aged 5 was killed instantly. Wiona aged 10 was wounded and in critical condition.
Anniston’s red and blue dominated Jacksonville as Woodroft Payne and Darden led a powerful offense. Fred Bell and Twid French Bill scored touchdowns with strong end runs and sharp interference while Jacksonville fought hard but was outclassed. Officials listed Scarbrough Perkins Bullard Eason Smith Halliday.
Amicable settlement ends stockholders dispute at Anniston Mercantile. Officers elected at July meeting ready to take charge once Receiver Thomason files report. Gadsden November 27. The Southern Car and Foundry Co. here has resumed operations and now employs a large force. The plant is a leading industry, with workers paid good wages aiding local merchants. The foundry is busy making castings for corn structures being built at the Anniston plant.
An ad quotes D. H Turner of Demopolis Pa praising Dr King's New Life Pills as restoring youth in two weeks. The voucher claims benefit for liver stomach and bowels. Purposely vegetable with no gripe. Sold for 25 cents at West End Drug Co and Miller Drug Co.
The eleventh annual conference of the Women’s Foreign Missionary Society of the North Alabama presbytery ended at South Highlands Church with about thirty delegates. Anniston was chosen as next year’s meeting location, and 1500 dollars was raised for foreign missions. Officers elected remain: Mrs. James W. Lapsley Anniston president. Mrs. GB Smith Florence first vice president. Mrs. J. B. Martin Gadsden second vice president. Mrs. J. B. Knox Anniston secretary and treasurer.
Mrs. William Gillespie reported a male infant born in Paiciossura weighing 9 pounds and 19 inches long. The child had two necks and two perfect heads with normal facial features and lungs, but did not live long after birth.
G D MecElvan a white farmer of Geneva county bound over on charge of peonage after holding white man Tom Berry in servitude. Commissioner Tatswiler of Troy set the bond at 300. Berry released from McHivain custody.

The trials of Robert Carr and Thomas Black charged with fatally beating Robert Harris near a negro schoolhouse during a frolic proceed in Judge EKF Crook's court this afternoon. A large Jacksonville crowd attends as proceedings move to the city courtroom and several other cases await on the docket.
Testimony opened this morning in the bankruptcy case of A. W. Parker manager of the Office ga loon. Judge H. D. McCarty presiding with the case to be decided by Judge Toumin of the U S court in vacation.
