Bob Harris a well known local African American was killed after a knife fight with Bob Carr during a Saturday night gathering at a southeastern Jacksonville schoolhouse where Harris later lay dead with a crushed skull beside a bloodstained club. He had previous Sing Sing incarcerations but was described as hardworking when sober.

New First Baptist Church Under Rapid Construction
Work on the new First Baptist Church is progressing rapidly at the corner of Fourteenth Street and Pine Avenue and should be ready for occupancy by January. Mrs. J. A. Gaddis Dies in Birmingham Funeral Held
Mrs. J A Gaddis wife of J A Gaddis superintendent of Annistoo Bag Manufacturing died yesterday in Birmingham and was buried here today. Remains arrived in the morning and were taken to Oxanna Methodist church for funeral services conducted by Rev T K Roberts. Interment followed at Edgemont cemetery. Mr Gaddis receives many expressions of sympathy in his bereavement.
