A Miss Marianna special reports a brutal night murder near Pensacola. Rob er Caffey his wife and three children aged up to eight were killed with an axe. The house shows blood and severed heads and two Black suspects Alleo Mouthaecs and Gordon are in custody.
The state organization of commercial clubs proposes Alabama representation at the World's Fair despite no legislative appropriation. Anniston would be represented and Southern Car and Foundry Co could send three of its cars loaded with Calhoun county manufacturing and farm products to create a creditable, low cost exhibit.
Fire departments from Gadsden Rome Dalton Cartersville Talladega and Pratt City will participate in the May tournament. Chief Allen aims to make it a landmark event and plans start immediately with a meeting at City Hall next Monday at 7:30 PM to organize and boost attendance.
In Montgomery on November 11 white and colored Roosevelt supporters held a meeting led by the president's referees. They adopted resolutions calling for negro representation on the delegation to the Republican national convention and on all executive committees. Captain Charles H. Scott was endorsed to replace J. W. Dimmick on Alabama's national committee. A dozen prominent negro politicians attended and backed the conference outcomes.
The Prestine Petrified Phenomenon Co of Asheville filed suit in Justice Waddell's court to recover 3500 paid for a supposed petrified man found by A W Sutton of Henderson county. The exhibition toured the country, but stockholders doubt its genuineness and contend the figure is merely Portland cement.

The contract to rebuild Donahoo & Co. livery stable destroyed by fire is awarded to Mr. J H Duke. Work starts next Monday. The brick structure will measure ninety by two hundred eighty feet and cost about $10,000, to be one of the largest in the region.
Rev. Oscar A. Alden, 64, a Baptist minister from the upper county, died Monday morning in Edwardsville of paralysis. He was buried with Masonic honors yesterday evening after services led by Rev. J. R. Burke. He was en route to Georgia last Saturday to perform a marriage.
At St Luke English Lutheran church during Miss Saidie Wolf’s funeral yesterday afternoon a basement fire broke through the floor near the casket. Panic ensued as mourners rushed to safety while the service conductor, Rev Dysinger, fainted from smoke. The blaze caused $2,000 in damage before being extinguished. All aboard for St Louis.
Washington November 11 The Republican caucus voted to remove Senator Oscar W Morgan of Alabama from the canal committee chairmanship. Morgan, since 1896 a leading canal expert, remains a member and can still oppose the Panama program and back Nicaragua. Senator Haona is expected to succeed him as chairman.

Ingram & Co. lists several recent sales and negotiates large deals with optimistic winter prospects.

At the Anniston Trades' Council meeting last night Mr. T. J. Lamar Jr was elected a member of the executive committee of United Labor League recently formed in Birmingham. The committee will include one man from each central body and one from each local union. The open session is planned for Blue Mountain Hall next Tuesday night with speeches and music. Local unions will elect their representatives later.
