Anniston Public Building Sketches Underway
Washington November 11 The supervising architect of the treasury department is preparing sketches for the Anniston public building. They await approval by the secretary of the treasury and bids may be opened by next March. About fifty thousand dollars was appropriated with around forty three thousand remaining for the building proper. The site is purchased. initial plans suggested seventy five thousand but a twenty five thousand amendment failed, leaving fifty thousand to fund a handsome structure.

Death of Clarence L. Sweets and Pythian funeral rites
Clarence L. Sweets died yesterday morning after a two year illness in Anniston. A funeral was held at First Methodist Church at 2:30 PM with interment in Edgemont Cemetery. He was a prominent local businessman and Knights of Pythias member, An niston Lodge No. 91. Pythian brothers served as pallbearers and attended in a body. The service was led by Rev. S. B. Wasson, lodge prelate. He leaves a father, a mother, two brothers and a sister and was widely esteemed.

Escaped Leavenworth Convicts Seize Topeka Sheriff
Two escapees from Fort Leavenworth captured Sheriff Cook and Deputy Williams at Pauline south of Topeka. They held Wooster and his wife as shields in a farm house until the pair slipped away with a line of pursuing officers. Each convict was slightly wounded. Wooster was badly wounded. A posse pursues the escapees.

Election day in Anniston polls show heavy quiet vote
At 2 PM 939 votes were cast in Anniston with ward tallies of 300 in Ward One 218 in Ward Two 114 in Ward Three 230 in Ward Four and 87 in Ward Five. Voting was orderly with polling places listed and forecasts of a large ratification majority for the new constitution in Calhoun County.
