Punston orders integration of Texas militia into regular army

San Antonio May 23 Gen Punston said he would order the militia to join the regular army. He denied a Washington report that 114 militiamen were court martialed for refusing federal service, saying he only asked Secretary Baker for guidance. The Big Bend area remains troublesome as a 390 mile line lacks sufficient troops and he seeks more coast guard support.
