A seventeen year old girl from Mexico Oyanna or Oxanna appears amid a crisis, committing suicide Sunday afternoon after a personal crisis. A separate note mentions Maynor Nolen, also seventeen, leaving no explanation for a rash act involving whiskey at Girard.
State raiders locate forty five barrels of whiskey at the Manhattan club in Girard Columbus with guards surrounding the site and plans to raid additional illicit distilleries. Internal Revenue agents join state officers as a hospital corps is sent from Montgomery for emergencies.
Paris May 22 French forces reportedly gained ground on both sides of the Moue after a prolonged bombardment. German counterattacks east of the Year River failed to recapture, while a French night assault near Vaux secured a trench. In Mexico, Seveth Cavalry skirmished with bandits near Tempsychic and Madera as American columns moved northward.
Reported fighting in the Оukust region and north of a lake ended with German attempts repulsed while Russian artillery duels continued on the Neian front. Two German planes bombed Cairo and Perm, killing two and wounding civilians and five injured. Russians claim main objectives met in Turkey by allying with British forces on the Tigris. A note of alert cites a Rewelan cavalry unit making a bold junction with British forces after a risky ride.
Miss Maynor Nolen a seventeen year old resident of the Oxanna hotel died after shooting herself in her room Sunday afternoon. Coroner’s report confirmed self-inflicted wound with a .32 caliber revolver while neighbors heard the shot. Funeral held at Edgemont cemetery as authorities investigated no clear motive emerged.
In Hunteville Tennessee on May 22 the Sixth District convention met after six weeks of campaigning between Mit Robbins and R. H. Cecil factions. A disputed count caused a split with likely two sets of delegates to the Republican convention.

Overseas News Agency reports word from Helsingborg Sweden that a British submarine sank the German steamship Trave then flew the German flag to lure the ship out of Swedish waters. The claim comes via wireless dispatches and Berlin press echoes.
Three men Wilson Perdue John Quinnell and W Overton were badly burned when a green flask of wooken iron exploded at Kilby Locomotive and Car Works Saturday. Quinnell suffered the most severe burns though all are expected to survive though scarred for life. Nearly four tons of molten metal filled the ladle at the moment of the accident.
A grand Sunday school parade is planned for the first Sunday in June with many schools choosing colors and flags. Ministers will cancel regular 11 o clock sermons to join the march and attend a Chautauqua program with music and talks. A badge for best school participation is proposed to honor smaller as well as larger schools.
Rear Admiral Caperton reports ordering the Thirteenth company of marines with artillery from Cape Haitien to Santo Domingo City. With this addition, officials estimate about two thousand marines will be in Santo Domingo City. Secretary Daniels has not received word from the Dominican minister on an official protest.

The twin motor aeroplane flown by Victor Carlstrom from Newport News to New York in four hours is purchased by the Aero Club of America. It will be given to the National Guard of New Mexico on duty along the Mexican border. The craft will carry a two pounder aircraft gun and an air compass from New London, Connecticut.
London readers report one hundred deaf men are drilling in the hope the army will accept them. They follow shouted orders by lip reading and use a finger sign system for commands. Inspectors call the drill excellent and note clear signaling for formations.

Chairman Tillman of the senate naval committee condemned the 43 000 6000 rivers and harbors appropriation as waste and urged diverting the funds to naval preparedness. He argued the navy should be second to none except England.
In Chihuahua City on May 22 General Manuel Jiminez Castro Colonel Alfredo Chavas Pedro Rodrigues Jose Lazano Pedro Mestas and minor officers renounced their allegiance to the de facto government. The report notes the group is continuing on Page Five.
