Four Walker County Coal Properties Sold for Three Million
The Monongahela River Consolidated Coal and Coke Company completed absorption of the first of four major Walker County Alabama coal firms. J K Tate of Birmingham received an $800,000 draft from Union Trust for his Virginia and Alabama Company property. Total Alabama lands to be acquired are about 7700 acres for roughly $3,000,000, with only minor details remaining.

Carnival pleasures multiply as the season advances with elaborate flowers, a grand parade echo, and a glittering carnival ball. The Elk and Trades parade featured Hon Jos J Arnold and Fred Boyd in Elk costumes with bands, umbrellas and floats from Amalgamated workers and local merchants.

Royal Pageant Floats Earned Top Prize In Gadsden Parade

Spanish War Veterans to Attend Carnival Military Day
Veterans from the Spanish American War will gather for a statewide event including Gen. W. W. Brandon and Col. B. J. Higdon inspecting local units in Anniston and Oxford. Maj. W. J. Parkes will preside over the assembly and oversee troop inspections. The day features a parade with multiple communities, a large veteran turnout and a special Spanish American Veteran’s Day reunion.
