Kruger and Steyn Rally Fleeing Boers at Poplar Grove
At Poplar Grove on March 9, President Kruger and President Steyn were present as French's cavalry broke the Boer line. They urged a retreat but the troops refused to face artillery fire while eight thousand cavalry swept the rear.
