Governor Comer Back Home After Washington Trip
Montgomery June 14 Gov. B T B Comer returned from a Washington visit and tackled a pile of mail in his office after discussions with Attorney General Garber and capitol officers about state matters. He and Garber expect a brief on the Mobile County impeached sheriff case as the supreme court considers a rehearing during the week of June 21. The extra session date remains undecided as organizers weigh crop, statewide business, and county needs. Judge Mitchell and officials toured north Alabama counties reporting crops and farmer prosperity. State Game and Fish Commissioner John H. Wallace Jr praised Cage Barnett’s conviction for killing a deer in violation of game laws, noting deer populations have increased due to protections. State Treasurer Walter D. Seed notes LL D degrees awarded to J Calhoun at a recent University trustees meeting.
