Returns from a majority of the Third Regiment Alabama National Guard show Capt. D Houston Smith of Oxford and Capt. W H Long of Decatur elected majors. Smith will succeed Maj Daniel of Birmingham, Long succeeds Major Simpson of Florence. Both are prominent and popular in Alabama military circles.
