President Commutes Life Sentence of Jefferson Harrison
Washington June 2 The president commuted to ten years the life sentence of Jefferson Harrison for robbing a mail car in 1892 and threatening to kill the mail clerk. The attorney general recommended commutation as there was no actual violence to the clerk and good conduct allowances will soon release Harrison.

New Lodge Working Well in West Anniston
Mountain Oak Lodge No. 183 of Odd Fellows organized in West Anniston reports 51 charter members. Officers elected were Noble Grand H. S. Badders Vice Grand T. Hamilton Secretary John Lines and Treasurer Davis Kirby. Meeting nights are Wednesday in Graham's store hall at Eleventh and Duncan Streets. Grand Warden John Ellis instituted the lodge. The group is expected to grow rapidly with a strong start and the largest charter membership in the area.

Belle factory property near Huntsville to be developed
The Belle factory property ten miles north east of Huntsville along the Nash ville Chattanooga and St Louis railway and Three Forks of the Flint river has been virtually sold to northern capitalists. They plan about two million dollars in development including three mills at three water powers and a new town of roughly five thousand inhabitants. Ownership transfer will occur after title checks.
