The Anniston trades council held its second meeting at Blue Mountain hall. New officers were elected: H. P. Higgins president T. A. Moore vice president W. E. Seisson secretary treasurer Rk. FE. Gann sergeant at arms William Jenkins doorkeeper. Four unions admitted boosting affiliation near city wide trades groups. Plans set to choose regular quarters by July 14 and report on hall and meeting time next gathering.

Police Committee Drops Officer Chandler From Force
The police committee of the general council voted to drop Patrolman J Chandler from the city police force after an investigation. Mayor Kilby had suspended Chandler about two weeks earlier for alleged carelessness with his pistol on duty. Judge Loving Acquitted in Nelson County Murder Trial
In Houston Virginia on July 1 the jury found former Judge William G. Loving not guilty after a 35 minute deliberation. Loving was tried for the murder of Theodore Estes son of Sheriff M K Estes of Nelson County. After verdict jurors were congratulated and family tearfully embraced.

White Man Lynched In Dalton Ga Today
Special to the Star reports a white man named Dec Posey, 35, was taken from Dalton jail before daylight and hanged from a street viaduct. Posey, jailed on a charge of assaulting his 99 year old daughter, reportedly confessed. The orderly mob carried out the act quietly.

The department of commerce and labor releases May data for the new fiscal year. Chicago packing house shipments in May fell 26 percent from 1906 levels. Grain receipts at 14 interior markets were 10 million bushels higher than May 1906. Coal and coke traffic on the Pennsylvania system east of Pittsburgh and Erie rose nearly 2 million tons in the five weeks ending June 1 versus 1905.

Calera Doctor Shot By Officer During Arrest
