Mr Blacks Narrow Escape From Gang Drill Press
Mr Adrian D Black was caught in a gang drill press at the car works Saturday morning. He suffered a broken left arm above the elbow and serious facial and body injuries. Jack Young a Black man working in the blacksmith shop pulled him free from the revolving machinery, saving him from being crushed. Young’s hand was burned while freeing Black.

Mrs Newsom Dies After Short Illness in Oxania
Mrs Julia L Newsom aged 77 died yesterday morning at her son Sterling Newsom's home in Oxania after a brief illness. Born April 8 1824 in Warren County Ga she lived in Calhoun county since 1860 and left ten children four living Mes S L Newsom J D Newsom of Oxanna J S Newsom of Bessemer and Mrs W H Wallace of Childersburg. Interment was in Oxford cemetery with funeral at Oxania Methodist church conducted by Rev W W Scott.
