Directors will meet on the fifteenth to discuss expanding the Anniston plant doubling its capacity and impact on operations. The plan aims to accelerate production and meet growing demand with enhanced facilities and jobs.
Equipment from the Ahrens & Ott pipe works in Louisville is being moved to Anniston and partially to Gadsden to enlarge Central Foundry Co. plants. The Anniston site will gain the most, with a doubling in capacity and more operatives. Directors meet on the 15th to authorize the expansion work.
A small fire this morning at 11.45 in a frame shanty corner Glen Addie and Tenth streets. The building, once a store, now houses two Negro families and was damaged but no injuries were reported.
McClurkin a white wood yard operator faced cheating and swindling charges from a negro woman after a wood delivery mix up. The case was dismissed by Mayor Pro Tem McAterey after McClurkin refunded fifty cents, leaving him entirely exonerated.
The Jenifer furnace will go into blast between the 15th and 25th of this month. Fifty men will be employed at the furnace and the ore beds. The plant can make between sixty five and seventy five tons of pig iron per day and will operate at full capacity.
Joe Sanford, a white man from Cleburne county, was brought to the city by Deputy Marshal Edwards and tried before Commissioner Randolph on illicit distilling charges. Evidence failed to convict. Sanford was discharged. Edwards departed for Cleburne county to pursue offenders.

Anselm J. McLaurin, 56, former governor of Mississippi, was unanimously nominated by the state Democratic legislature caucus in Jackson for the long term in the U S Senate. McLaurin has a long career as a lawyer and politician, including governing Mississippi from 1884.
The Glen Addie Baptist church election of officers was postponed due to small attendance. A prayer service will be held at Glen Addie Presbyterian Church led by Mr Will Miller. Rev Mr Little has not yet replied to the church call. Miss Clara Bray returned home from Alexandria yesterday. Mr W O Treadaway is back from a business trip to Jacksonville.
London January 4. Reports say General French will retire and eight additional regiments to be called out with seven Irish. No new developments from the front.
