War news from Paardeberg reports no change in the fighting around Ladysmith. British forces tighten the ring on Cronje as engineers advance trenches and artillery fire remains constant, with Union forces appearing to bolster the offensive.
A British cavalry division moved twelve miles east and scattered several Boer escape parties. Intermittent artillery fire continued at Cronje’s Langer as engineers built trenches with unique marrow top and side fortifications to shield from fire.

Henry Jemison a colored worker died yesterday from injuries suffered about a week earlier in a burn at the United States Cast Iron Pipe and Foundry Company plant. He was buried this afternoon. Ordered Montevallo coal from the Anniston Coal Company.
