Gilmore's Restaurant Sold to Shelby Proprieter

Gilmore's Restaurant changed hands yesterday as D C Glenn of Shelby purchased the business. Glenn assumes control today with J B Gilmore retiring from the restaurant trade. The new proprietor, a Shelby mercantile figure, will move his family to Anniston and aim to make the restaurant famous in the region.

Four More Looms Started at Anniston Carpet Mill

Four additional looms come online this week at the Anniston Carpet mill bringing total to forty. Demand for Anniston carpet drives expansion as the plant crowds its space and may add a new building soon. Killing at Payetteville leaves L N boss dead

Mr M. B. Carter, L and N section boss at Fayetteville, was shot and killed at ten this morning by W D Campbell after a dispute over Campbell damaging Carter’s dog. Carter, well known to railroad workers and many in Anniston, died instantly. Campbell was not arrested by noon.

Flynn Ends Life With Morphia At Dark Corner Mill

John Flynn died by morphine poisoning at Simpson's saw mill six miles northeast of the city after consuming corn whiskey earlier. He remained at Reuben Price's home at Dark Corner, where an inquest by Coroner Franks found death caused by morphine poisoning.

Returned from Raid in Cleburne with Distilling Suspect

Deputy Marshal J A Edwards arrived from Cleburne after a several days raid on illicit distilleries in the state. Officers found a large plant near Bell's Mills ready for distilling but no still. James Napoleon, alias Napoleon Bona Parte, charged with illicit distilling, was tried and bound over to await Federal grand jury action under a $200 bond.

Mrs Nation Jails After Refusing Bond in Peace Warrant

Topeka February 19 Mrs Nation died into county jail rather than post 8000 bond on a peace warrant sworn by Moe Cold Storage officials for entering the plant yesterday. She acted as her own attorney and was ordered to appear again. she refused bond and was remanded to jail pending further court term.
