Southern Car & Foundry Plant Receives Large Car Orders
Anniston plant of the Southern Car & Foundry company received orders for two hundred new cars. Work starts immediately as fifty stock cars for Southern Railway and fifty flats for the Choctaw, Oklahoma & Gulf are scheduled. A large one hundred car order comes from New Orleans & Northeastern Railroad, with more likely on the way to keep the plant in continuous operation.

Shoes Found in Trunk Linked to Box Car Theft

Escaping Convicts Shot by Guards at Pratt Mine
In Birmingham on Tuesday night Charles Higgens a life term convict from Bullock county was killed and George Harris a twenty year prisoner was wounded as guards opened fire during an attempted escape at Pratt Mine convict prison. Six prisoners including Higgens and Harris were near the mine gate when a cordbell alarm brought guard P B Allen to the scene. As the prisoners climbed the gate he fired. None escaped.
