Will Perry, condemned murderer of King Farmer, waits in county jail for January 16 execution. Once a raging man who refused food and attempted suicide, he now shows calm behavior and spends time with his Bible, contemplating the afterlife as ministers visit to urge preparation for the great beyond. Guards will remain vigilant to prevent self harm or violence.
Beginning January 1 the carding and spinning rooms of the Anniston Cordage Company will be operated day and night to supply yarn for sash cord lines. After D. W. Fleming took over management the plant has expanded, with the night shift increasing employment and signaling mill growth for Anniston.
News from Selma on December 18 reports the order to muster out the Selma Guards, following a court of inquiry. Members had urged accountability for a few, fearing the group’s blame. A Friday meeting was called, with a new company likely to form and Selma favored for a replacement.

Lelma Dec 18 Dr J W Shoaff former pastor of Church Street Methodist and former theology chair at Southern University Greensboro Ala now pastor at Opelika suffered both legs broken in a rail crash near Columbiana two miles south on a local freight train He was in the caboose when the wreck occurred and was thrown against the caboose wall sustaining multiple bruises He had just attended a Methodist conference in Montgomery and was en route back.
Alva Wright, a young man from Paint Rock, stabbed Robinson after a quarrel over his sister dancing with him. He then fatally stabbed his mother. City Marshal Anderson and locals detained Wright. he faces guard custody as the investigation proceeds.
Mrs J G Yates died at her home in Oxford after a brief illness. She was sixty nine, a resident of Oxford for twelve years. Survived by son Lamar Yates. Funeral held from the Methodist church this afternoon, with interment in Oxford Cemetery.

Will Lawson, charged with the murder of Jeff Maxwell, was allowed bond of three thousand dollars today at noon by Judge John Pelham after habeas corpus proceedings. Lawson’s attorneys were Frank and Woodson Martin and Jeph J. Arnold, with the prosecution by Mathons, Martin and Solicitor W. C. nrp.
A frightful accident yesterday left NKORU UniLUANN and another child dead on a farm below Oxford. Their mother left them alone in the house to fetch water from a spring. cries drew her back too late to save them. The incident occurred near Mellen on W. KE’s farm. Watch for the Christmas Star.
