Minister shot by Justice of the Peace in Brookside
Rev J W Bradford former West Anniston Methodist pastor was killed at Brookside near Birmingham by J P R D Coffman. The shooting followed reportedly a demeaning remark at a Sunday school gathering yesterday afternoon. No witnesses to the exact exchange or subsequent events.

Wreck injures Judge Kelly on Georgia line
Chancellor Kelly suffers severe bruises with broken or missing limbs avoided. He is hospitalized in Macon after a Central of Georgia mail train wreck near Macon. One person was killed and twenty injured as the Savannah to Atlanta train derailed on a switch, flames and wreckage enveloping several cars. Judge Kelly, en route to Opelika for court, is reported in good spirits and receiving careful attention.

Death of Arthur Black at 18 Follows Pneumonia
Arthur Black aged 18, son of Policeman J W Black, died this morning at 11 30 at his father's home in the Fifth Ward after a two week illness with pneumonia. The burial will be in Oxford cemetery tomorrow afternoon with services by Rev W W Beott. The father is also ill with pneumonia and may not recover.

Former Camp Shipp Captain Fremont Court Martialed
Captain Francis P. Fremont of the Second Infantry was convicted by court martial in the Philippines for conduct prejudicial to order and military discipline. He received six months suspension from his rank and command on half pay and confinement to his regiment headquarters. The specifications alleged he cursed and assaulted Private Boyd and sought to order a summary court against him. Fremont had commanded a company at Camp Shipp and served as provost guard during the 1st Volunteer Regiment’s muster out and Camp breakup.
