Elmore County Man Receives Life Term For Lynch Mob Murder
In Wetumpka Alabama August 29 George Howard a leading Elmore County figure was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison for participating in the lynching of Robert White a Black man. The mob of thirteen members took White from officers tied a rope to a tree and left him hanging until he died from strangulation.

Poisonous heads of matches charged in Knoxville case
Knoxville August 29 two women Bessie and Julia McFalls jailed charged with poisoning children by dissolving match heads in water to make them drink a potion. Three children died August 17 20 and 23 with a neighbor swearing out warrants. A six year old Elsie child also died. Exhumations planned and no physician summoned.
