In Hamlet New York Booker Washington and about forty African American men and women dined in the main dining room while U.S. Senator A. O. Bacon and others were refused seating in an improvised side room. The dining room’s exclusive seating drew attention as travelers observed the scene near the Seaboard Air Line station. The event followed a Southern railway stop in Hamlet where Washington’s party was warmly received by local patrons.

Judge Wood Tops Governor in Arkansas Campaign Brawl

In Bismarck Arkansas Judge Carrol L. Wood of the Arkansas supreme court who seeks a third term for Governor Davis knocked Davis from a speaking stand four feet to the ground. Davis was unharmed and aides ended the disruption. Wood was arrested on assault and battery charges before returning to Little Rock.

Property Destroyed After Twin Cloudbursts in Council Bluffs

Two severe cloudbursts in Council Bluffs caused extensive damage with losses estimated well over 500000 dollars. The first storm flooded streets and forced hundreds from lower districts as stores and stocks suffered heavy damage. A second surge raised water levels, worsening damage to businesses and property. Rainfall approached six inches.

Stouch to Join Montgomery in Southern League

Tommy Stouch, who managed the Anniston baseball team this season, will finish the year with Lew Whistler's Montgomery aggregation in the Southern league. CAMBRIA Wisconsin August 27 David G Williams aged 63 who was bitten by a rat two weeks ago died yesterday from blood poisoning caused by the bite. He was a member of the lower house of the last legislature and served in the Civil War.
