Labor Day Plans Spark Citywide Celebration
Labor Day preparations progress well as residents from within seventy five miles converge on Anniston for a big celebration. A special one fare round trip is offered for travel from nearby points. the Trades Council in Atlanta has approved the rate and notified President C Echard. Judge Stanley of Birmingham will speak to laboring residents, adding prominence to the event.
Diamonds Stolen From Mrs Wellborn Home
Mrs M B Wellborn reported the loss of a diamond ear ring set valued around two hundred dollars. The missing jewelry was last seen in her bedroom early yesterday. suspicion falls on two women employed by her a washwoman Mattie Irving and a cook Katy Scott. The case heads to a police court trial this afternoon at five o'clock with both women under scrutiny.

Ten Indicted in Elmore County Lynching Case
The grand jury at a special circuit court term charged with assault to murder ten of thirty mob members in the Elmore County lynching. Others who refused testimony were jailed for contempt. These are the first lynching indictments in many years.

Alabama signs salt lands lease for oil prospect near Jackson
Governor Jelks signed a state lease for Clarke county salt lands near Jackson. Capt. T. G. Bush of Birmingham will organize a company to bore for oil, leasing 3 200 acres for ten years, active only while lands are worked by Bush and associates. The lands, ceded by the federal government, have not been developed in years and profits would go to the state.

Deadly River Line crash kills one in Atlanta
A late afternoon collision on the River Line of the Rapid Transit company in Atlanta killed a man named Harry Willian and injured seventeen, three of them seriously. The list of injured includes Mrs. Weaver likely fatally, Mrs. John M. Weaver, O. O. Williams with a broken thigh, Mrs. J. W. Cawley, J. J. Hartsfield, and several others. All the injured are believed to be from Atlanta.
