McClelland to stand trial Friday for killing at Piperow dance
Jerry McClelland, a negro, will be tried Friday afternoon at 1 39 for shooting and killing Forney Williams at his Piperow home during a Saturday night dance. The weapon was a double barreled shotgun. Williams’ head was blown away. McClelland surrendered on Justice Sawyer’s advice and was held at the city jail before being turned over to the state. Authorities cite self defense as a possible motive.
