Mrs. Fannie Cochran drank laudanum in her Arlington hotel room around 8 30 this morning but did not poison herself fatally. She was found soon after and treated with an emetic. authorities say marital trouble may have driven her to the act. Her husband Tucker Cochran, once a fireman at Southern Car and Foundry, left town recently. The bottle used was discarded and the exact amount is unknown. Galveston Tex August 9 El Norte the first Morgan line steamer opened the New York Galveston Southern Pacific service docking at 9 30 a m after sailing from New York Saturday. Four thousand people greeted the opening of the new docks while 12 000 lined the wharves. A torchlight parade illuminations and fireworks followed the celebration drawing about 5 000 visitors to the city.
