A Black man, unnamed in the report, was shot in the thigh by a white farmer near Oxford while burglarizing George Reaves’ residence. Reaves and his family, missing food after Sunday absences, set a trap. two sons waited at home, and the intruder was shot and arrested.
A quiet Jacksonville home ceremony united Harry North Austin, an Atlanta contractor, and Floy Montgomery. Rev L Q Melton officiated at the Montgomery residence with family and a few friends present. The couple left for Birmingham then Atlanta to begin their married life. Floy Montgomery is well known in Anniston.
