Lynching of Charles Craven Near Leesburg Va

A mob of about 150 men seized Charles Craven from the Leesburg jail and hanged him along the Leesburg pike. They fired more than 500 shots after raising the body, while Craven proclaimed his innocence of William H. Wilson’s murder and the related barn burning for which he had already been jailed.

Campaign Kickoff in Calhoun August 9

Hon. Charles E. Waller and Hon. G. J. Hall will address Calhoun county citizens in the circuit court room on August 9 at 8 30 p m. The event opens the gubernatorial campaign in Calhoun county. Will Pay One of Boni's Big Debts

New York reports Samuel Uttermeyer has helped settle a lengthy dispute between Asher Wertheimer and Comte and Comtesse Boni De Castellane. Wertheimer accepts the fall amount with 4 percent interest. Boni De Castellane agrees to pay $100,000 yearly to secure the claim totaling about $400,000, to be paid from George J. Gould's trustee income. Insurance policies are to be provided by the Comtesse to cover potential loss on death.
