Methodist Church News June Worship and Special Honors

Rev Henry led chapel services at Colonial Manor with Sarah Circle assisting at 2 pm on Thursday June 23. Sunday June 26 features worship at 8:30 am and church school at 9:30 am. June 28 Loyal Circle meets at 1:30 pm. At Father’s Day services June 19, Les Eddy and Carl Millard received silver lapel pins as oldest fathers, Dennis Zimmerman the youngest, and Darrel Schuler Jens Rasmussen the most children. Ushers Gilber Wethrman and Wilbur Skaug assisted. floral arrangements and books decorate the Interest Center with red cloths on the altar. Coffee and cookies followed services in Fellowship Hall.

At Anita Post No. 210 regular meeting on June 9 the American Legion elected officers for 1977 78 with Merlin Kraus as Commander and Paul Williamson as First Vice Commander. Installations follow the State Convention in Des Moines June 15 17. Dr Millard Petersen to Retire After 41 Years in Atlantic

Millard Petersen an Atlantic physician for 41 years will retire July 1. Born in Nebraska he trained at University of Nebraska Omaha medical school graduating in 1934 and completed internships in Nebraska and California. He served in the Army for 30 years including duty at Topeka Hospital and a hospital ship before joining Atlantic Medical Center. He and wife plan fishing trips to northern Wisconsin area lakes a Colorado family reunion and a Hawaii Christmas vacation with time for woodworking and metalworking in his basement.

Michael Sheeder Undergoes Cataract Surgery in Omaha

Michael Sheeder son of Mr and Mrs George Sheeder of Stuart underwent cataract surgery Tuesday June 7 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. He returned home Saturday and is recuperating well. Michael previously had a cataract removed from his other eye last year. His brother Gordon and sister Rhonda have had both eye operations for cataracts.
