Relatives announce the death of Mrs. J. E. Ned Brown a longtime Anita and Berea area resident. She was killed when struck by a car on Goodland Kansas main street. Witnesses say the driver was not at fault. Survived by husband two daughters two sons and several siblings. Funeral held with interment at Kanorado Kansas.

The marriage of Otto Wheatley and Emma Kaufmann, both of Anita, was held Thursday afternoon February 2 1927 at the Presbyterian manse in Atlantic. Rev. William Mack officiated. The couple will reside on a farm near Anita. The groom is son of Mr and Mrs Prank L Wheatley and the bride daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Kaufmann. Accompanying them were Miss Dorothy Denny and Mr Lewis Kaufmann.

Bell brothers and relatives recover from southern Iowa crash injuries
The Bell brothers Ed Aaron and Howard and their brother in law and sister Mr and Mrs Russell Hier all escaped death in a crash five miles south of Greenfield while en route to Illinois. They are slow but satisfactory to recover with Ed at Anita home Aaron in Creston hospital and Howard and Mr Iler at the Tiler home near Greenfield. Orville Bell in Tinois remains critical.

Former resident Sherm. Winchell leaves life policy claim
The late Sherm Winchell longtime Anita Cass county resident died recently at home near Coffeyville Kansas. He held a $3000 life insurance policy in Modern Woodmen of America and retained Grove Camp No. 1537 Anita membership through the years. The Camp paid the claim at a Saturday meeting with wife Jennie Winchell named as beneficiary.

Monday sleet and snow caused extensive damage to telephone and electric lines across town. Wires broke, tree limbs fell, and outages forced residents to rely on kerosene lamps and candles during the blackout.
