In this column a writer urges Andrews County to build a community swimming pool for wholesome fun and healthful exercise. They suggest possible locations near the old Court House or on the hill east of town and hope for a swim next summer.
Rev Roy Clayton urged the Senior Class and grammar school graduates to press forward and set their own objectives. He stressed moving beyond parental and teacher decisions and relying on personal effort, with the high school orchestra, Invoca tion by Rev L H Oussey, a duet by Luella Newman and Imazene Mangum, and Benediction by Rev G H Bryant concluding the exercises.
Three Andrews citizens attended federal court in Pecos as jurymen over the past two weeks. The panel included Dayton Snicer Bill Deeren Carl Gibson and J S Montgomery.
Mr and Mrs Arthur Fisher were visitors in Lubbock during the week with a brief stay noted in local society circles.
The fifth grade and teacher Miss Lemon closed the term with two outings funded by room mothers Mrs. Rasco and Mrs. Moxey. They visited Humble Lamp Campus for games and refreshments. Later the fifth hosted the fourth grade with a room party and a short program thanking their aides.

Texas Supreme Court refused to grant a Writ of Error in the Andrews County School Trustees versus Florey Common School District No. 5. The dispute began in Andrews District Court, with Judge Crane dissolving a temporary injunction and trying the merits. The Civil Court of Appeals upheld the district court, denied a new hearing, and the Supreme Court declined review. Beginning May 28, Treasurer Night will be on two nights Wednesday and Thursday instead of Tuesday. Also Now Saturday night Preview.
JCO Woodard director of Gambrell Street Baptist Church choir Fort Worth invited to lead the song service during summer revival in this city Rev Roy Claton pastor preaching Woodard and Mrs Woodard both from Fort Worth plan to accompany him at the piano Woods to conclude his Andrews service July 30 and then travel to Seminole for two weeks with Rev Curtis and the church there
The City Council in regular session increased the minimum water allowance from 2000 to 3000 gallons. They accepted J. P. Williams’s resignation as City Attorney and offered the post to Pat Beene. The City Secretary expects W P A work orders to initiate the city project in the coming days.
At the regular meeting of the Andrews Eastern Star Chapter eight officers were elected for the ensuing year. Lena Roberts is Worthy Matron and George Arnold Worthy Patron with other officers listed. A public installation of all officers is planned for Friday night in June with the public invited.
The TEL Sunday School class of the Baptist Church met for a regular monthly social at the Humble Camp Recreation Hall with Mrs J B Gazaway as hostess. After a devotional by Mrs C W Roberts and a prayer by Mrs Roy Clayton, a contest awarded stork gifts to several ladies. Music by Mrs W A Carsey complemented punch served during the social hour. The class invites ladies ages 25 to 35 who do not attend another Sunday School to join.
Mrs. Dick Waxler faced a rattlesnake inside her south Andrews home this week. She used a broom to drive the reptile outside, then finished it off in the yard as neighbors watched.
Rev. L. H. Ousley delivered the address on the importance of education to the Senior Class, urging continued pursuit of knowledge, civic duty, and balanced growth in intellect, morals, and spirit. The graduation featured diplomas, salutatory, and valedictory, with music by Dickerson's orchestra and prayers by local pastors.
The Senior Class with sponsor Nat Hynds and chaperone Mrs. Pond will depart Friday morning for a short excursion to Juarez, McDonald Observatory, and Big Bend country. Participants include H. B. Price the bus driver and seniors Pern Fond Orville Jones W. B. Walters Carmen Snipes Dan Crow Buck Wyson Virgil McCauley and H. M. Smith.
Fire of undetermined origin completely destroyed the residence of Deputy Sheriff Robert McReynolds early Wednesday. He was awakened about 4 am and roused neighbor Pat Beene who raised the alarm. Neighbors aided in saving most furniture and goods. the home was partially insured.
Construction starts this week on an airplane plant for the National Aircraft Company in San Antonio. S. L. Forrest, general manager of Forrest Lumber Co, based in Lamesa, was named a director at a Ft Worth meeting. Mrs. John L. Fisher of Hobbs NM visits Arthur Fisher's family. Olan Ingram returns to Ft Bliss El Paso after a ten day furlough due to his mother’s illness.
