County Voters Back Court House Bands In Big Majority
Andrews County instrumental groups wrap up a year of activity with a series of concerts and recitals. The Band and Instrumental Club will perform at the Bend concert tonight and lead processions at the Baccalaureate and high school graduation ceremonies. Members including Charles Comden Bobby Ray Wimberly Ellison Tom Jr Wesley Roberts Junior Williams Ella Mae McConkey and Alvin Little will perform solos duets and ensembles. The schedule highlights include May 16 elementary graduation May 19 high school graduation and various solo saxophone and piano pieces by local students and directors.

Andrews County Voters OK 100000 Bond for New Court House
In Andrews County last Saturday voters authorized 100000 in bonds for a new court house by 139 to 31. They also approved moving the court house downtown by 147 to 47. The Commissioners Court met with bond bidders led by James Stuart & Davis of Dallas, agreeing to 2.14 percent interest plus a 155 bonus, issuing 65000 now with 45000 contingent on a PWA grant. A site was selected on the east side of the highway opposite the Picture Show on a block owned by Bob Means. The architect will be engaged and bids will be requested after reviewing other new court houses.

Eight seniors led by Nat Hynds head Friday for a four day tour from the proposed International State Park in Big Bend Country to El Paso and back via New Mexico mountains. They plan fishing swimming boating and mountain climbing with nights in St Helena Canyon and the Chisos Mountains and may visit Carlsbad Cavern if possible.
