Forest fires threaten timberlands in East Texas area
The report notes as many as five fires each day over the last five years, totaling over 2,000 annual blazes that burned about 47,000 acres of pine hard woodlands. Homes, barns, fencing, and pastures were destroyed. Most fires were man caused and preventable with careful outdoor burning. The Texas Forest Service urges caution with any outdoor burning.
