Commercial Failures Fall in Texas in April Reports
The University of Texas Bureau of Business Research says commercial failures in Texas dropped 18.9 percent in number and 25.4 percent in aggregate liabilities in April from March. Compared with April last year, failures rose 57.9 percent in number and 120.9 percent in liabilities. Postal receipts in April fell 7.2 percent from March and 1.5 percent from April last year according to chambers of commerce.

CONTRACT LET TO MOVE MEANS HOUSES
Othel and Otis Ogden contracted with Bob Means to relocate four houses from the block bought by the county for the new Court House. The structures will be moved north to new sites on the east side of the highway. Dr. J. G. Little left Sunday for the World’s Fair in San Francisco and is expected to be away about two weeks. N. E. Watkins brought his wife home from Lubbock where she had several days of medical treatment. Mrs. Pat Beene and daughter returned from Wheeler Texas and Beene’s mother joined them for a visit.

Man Saved After Being Swept Overboard in Bay of Fundy
Clarence Letteney of Yarmouth Nova Scotia was swept from a Canadian lumber boat during a gale in the Bay of Fundy. A night rescue by a crew member with a flashlight guided a rope to him, and he was hauled aboard as the vessel reached Boston three days later. About 67,000 feet of lumber were lost overboard.
