County reports very light rainfall with no general rain this spring. W A Mitchell near town has about 80 acres of good cotton. Hugh Turnbow east of town reports fair stands on 75 acres. W T Anderson five miles east of Andrews shows a fair stand on 15 acres. Some ranchers are feeding, grass is poor, and some areas have had no rain.

Student travels worldlike miles to attend college near San Marcos

Aline Mc Cown, 16, freshman at Southwest Texas State Teachers College, has logged 23 028 miles this nine month term. She travels 57 miles from home near Stockdale to Stockdale to San Marcos and back six days a week, weathering sand and mud to reach an 8 a.m. class. She is the eldest of Orie and family, with above average grades and plans to return next fall on campus.
