Electric Worker James Smyres Hurt In Fall At Odessa
James V. Smyres nineteen of 222 West Fifth Odessa sustained head injuries and a broken pelvis after a high line entanglement while helping place new bulbs on Christmas lights. He rode atop a wooden ladder strapped to a company jeep and was knocked to pavement when the ladder struck a cable. He was taken to Headlee hospital by a Rix Funeral Home ambulance for treatment.

Andrews polio case sparks March of Dimes drive
Bobby Pruett son of Mr and Mrs Dick Pruett in No Trees was stricken with polio and hospitalized in Big Spring with grave condition.
