Former Resident Of County Dies In Wharton
M. M. Mathis, owner and operator of the feed store five miles west of Andrews on the Eunice highway, traveled to Wharton Texas on Tuesday to attend his uncle Joe Mathis funeral. His uncle had been ill for some time. Joe Mathis operated a dairy in Wharton and was 78 years old. He was a former Andrews county resident who once owned a ranch where the Fullerton Oil field now lies.

McIntyre and Regan to Speak at V Day Celebration
F T McIntyre assistant special agent in charge of the El Paso FBI office and Congressman Ken Regan of Midland will be principal speakers at Ward County's third annual V J Day celebration in Monahans on August 14. General Chairman Paul Carr announced plans for a full day of events as thousands of Permian Basin residents are expected to honor World War II veterans. McIntyre joined the FBI on April 23, 1943 and has served in Boston Birmingham New Haven Washington and Baltimore field offices. W. J. Harris 69 died after a cerebral hemorrhage at Andrews county hospital. Funeral services were held in Mineral Wells and the body was buried in a Fort Worth cemetery.
