Bayh Announces Indiana Funds From Federal Budget

Indiana will receive over 42 million dollars in federal funds under the Senate approved transit budget. Sen. Bayh says 34 counties would share 16.2 million for air port studies and planning. Beech Grove Amtrak facilities get 15.6 million to upgrade service. Funding also targets Lake Monroe access roads, Terre Haute rail highway demo, and airport tower relocation in South Bend.

Forest Fire In Arizona Controlled

Sierra Vista Ariz AP The Huachuca Mountains seen again as winds clear smoke from a 9000 acre fire started last Saturday in Carr Canyon Coranidlo National Forest. Fire controlled by 7 30 p m Wednesday aided by rain humidity and a 20 mile line built by about 1100 men. Crews weary from consecutive shifts return home as survey crews assess damage and plan reseeding with about 500 pounds of seed to prevent erosion before summer rains arrive.
