John Noyes, noted pioneer of the West and a leading Butte mining man, died at the Hot Springs AR kansas resort after an illness described as pneumonia. His death ends a long career in mining and regional development.
John Noyes longtime Butte resident and mining pioneer died in Hot Springs Arkansas from pneumonia contracted while visiting the springs. He helped build Butte with extensive real estate holdings and the Noyes Upton ditch. He was a Democrat and Episcopalian and survived by his wife two daughters and two sons. He was 87.
George Alderson editor and proprietor of the Livingston Post collapsed and died at his desk from heart disease in Livingston. Born 1833 in Arkengarthdale England he moved to America, built a Montana newspaper career, served as Montana Press association president, and leaves a wife and five children. Interment set for Mountain View cemetery Sunday afternoon.
Chicago police probe links to a $76,000 post office robbery after Daniel Kipley shoots Joseph Hopkins in a flat shared with Lil Arlington known as Diamond Lil. Hopkins dies from injuries while Kipley and Diamond Lil face arrest. A Palos Park search uncovers burglary tools and documents detailing safe blowing methods and explosives.

Stewart Fife, charged with killing Frank W. Richardson on Christmas Eve 1900, was acquitted after a unanimous jury verdict with a single ballot. The trial saw reactions from Mrs Fife and Mrs Richardson, the widow, as both sides expressed emotion. Fife, from a wealthy St Joseph family, had been in North Yakima before arrest.
London reports Lord Francis Hope receives a divorce on grounds of his wife May Yohe's misconduct with Putnam Bradlee Strong of New York. The court details their 1900 U S trip, the meeting with Strong, and the ensuing intimacy before they sailed to Japan under assumed names. Lord Hope, who recently had his leg amputated, was described as still suffering.

Boston March 21. Mrs Julia French was found dead in the elevator shaft of her Back Bay home. Her lawyers Morse and Dunham disclosed they believe she died intestate with a $400000 estate to be divided between two sons. Dunham suspects foul play and notes a wrench found on the floor as suspicious.
In Thompson Utah Charles Bothe known as Dutch Charley killed William Tebbets and his wife after jealously confronting Tebbets at his cabin. Mrs Bothe died, Tebbets died hours later. Bothe fled toward Colorado and is jailed in Placerville awaiting extradition.
