An autopsy revealed the deceased was a woman named Alice M Howard age about fifty who had lived five years as a man with a wife Edith Dyer. Charles Schultz was taken by Spokane constable R C Harboard from Philipsburg for complicity in a $140 theft from W D Hopkins at the Menlo House on Main Street. Schultz and W Robinson allegedly robbed Hopkins after drinking with him. Robinson is said to have stolen back part of the money. Schultz may offer to turn state’s evidence. Robinson is in Marcus, Washington, under arrest. Hopkins formerly a conductor on the Idaho division of the Northern Pacific and now lives in the East. Schultz claims intoxication at the time.
