General Umberto Kilé and five crewmen, aided by Major Maddalena Penzo, flew supplies to a refugee camp at Spitzbergen but could not land. They did relay sightings of Amundsen and the Italia party, with no confirmation of their fate amid ongoing efforts to locate Nobile and ten missing explorers.
Charles A. Lindbergh, forced to land due to fog near Duryea, arrived at Coxton yards aboard the Spirit of St Louis. He planned to resume the flight to York at dawn as crowds gathered to view the pilot and his disabled craft.
Mrs Helen Tufts Bailie of Cambridge Massachusetts was expelled from the Daughters of the American Revolution by unanimous vote of the national board. Charges arose from publishing an alleged D A R blacklist and disturbing the society's harmony. The board ruled the blacklist was not connected to the national society and cited the pamphlet publication as the misconduct.
Salt Lake City Utah June 22 The freakiest of freak golf occurred at the Utah Copper company course when Ted Colombe's drive struck Walter Skillicorn on the head 180 yards away and the ball bounded into the seventh hole Skillicorn was not injured and kept playing as part of a group ahead of Colombe.
Senator Williams delivers a high tribute to John G Morony in Great Falls. He recalls how Morony helped link Great Falls and Deer Lodge by copper cables powering Rainbow and Volta plants, and notes Montana’s vast changes over 45 years since his first Deer Lodge visit.

A lone bandit robbed the Detroit Toledo New York Central express car at Blissfield Michigan and escaped with about 50000 in currency. He boarded the train at Adrian, threw the bound messenger to the platform, then fled by car. The messenger was bound and later released after sorting mail when the attack occurred.

Final plans completed for a three day veterans encampment in Butte starting Monday with M J Mullen noting readiness. A telegram from William Wedgwood, state VFW commander, forecast at least 85 delegates and possible presence of the national leaders.
G C Miller and A H Wait, airways division superintendents, arrived in Butte as part of a department of commerce survey for emergency landing fields along the Great Falls to Salt Lake City air route. The line will open soon with Butte as a key stop. Both are former navy and army fliers and came from Helena.
Wayne G. Neville a 29 year old Dallas Texas native and pilot for National Air Transport was killed when his air mail plane crashed near Lebo Kansas about 20 miles east of Emporia after a violent windstorm and tornado crossed the area. The crash occurred shortly after takeoff from Kansas City at 3 25 am. Neville’s body was found beside the wreck and the fire was extinguished by neighbor John Siebuhr.
Calville Missouri June 22. E. F. Martin 92 years old was sentenced to a year in jail today for stealing a horse.
President Coolidge will extend his rest in Wisconsin for ten days, winding down the workweek at Cedar Island Lodge. He spends the time reading papers and strolling the grounds, with routine matters handled by signature. No confirmation on Secretary Work’s resignation has reached him.
A third woman, Marion Harris also known as Marion Poole and Marion Adams, was detained as a material witness in the John I Glab murder investigation. Harris is a close friend of Hazel Glab and Ethyl Kaser, who face charges in the slaying. Harris had been questioned after W R McIntyre cited a phone call from a woman named Marion the day after the murder.

Edward Gertenschlager, 45, placed six sticks of dynamite under his body and lit the fuses, exploding in a barn behind his house in Akron Ohio. Fragments of his body were found a block away as the blast shattered the barn roof and rattled the village.

Cordell Hull of Tennessee speaking in Houston vows to fight any effort to modify or weaken federal prohibition. He has the Democratic state endorsement for the presidential nomination and says prohibition is a non political question and essential to honest citizenship. Hull notes he previously voted for all prohibition laws and against modification measures.
