Montana highway commission selects Jefferson Canyon as the Three Forks to Whitehall segment of the Yellowstone trail, contingent on an unconditional easement from the Northern Pacific. The route would cut 14 miles and replace Harrison hill, with construction cost about 465000 dollars and remaining work about 250000 dollars over two years. The line begins at Cardwell and ends at Willow Creek.
A sudden wind shift prevented a spring locust swarm heading toward Palestine after government preparations, including flame guns, were mobilized in response to swarms seen in Wady near Petra. The wind change halted the invasion before it reached Jerusalem and surrounding areas.

Expert witnesses largely agree on his sanity at the crime, though some say he feigned insanity later.

Washington Feb 6 With George W Wickersham attorney general in Taft administration as counsel the senate will seek dismissal of the habeas writ by which Robert W Stewart Standard Oil magnate gained release from senate custody on a contempt charge. The hearing before Justice Jennings Bailey in the District of Columbia supreme court may take a day or more and the case will go to the court of appeals and then the supreme court. District Attorney Gordon will seek indictment on two counts of contempt for refusing to answer questions about Continental bonds and discussions with Harry F Sinclair.
In Cleveland on February 6 Eleanor Presley a 32 year old mother confessed to strangling her three weeks old son with a towel to spare him poverty. She was divorced from two husbands and arrested after the infant’s examination by Coroner A P Hammond. The child was by her first husband Gerald Presley.
The program notes a morning no regular session with committees meeting. In the afternoon at 1 30 the session is called to order by President W J Sewell. Talks include Where to Look for Business by J L McCafferty of International Harvester and Increasing Montana Farm Products illustrated with lantern slides by M L Wilson of Montana Experiment Station Bozeman professor of agricultural economics and farm management.
The 20th annual Montana Implement and Hardware convention opened at the New Finlen hotel with delegates from across Montana and visitors from Eastern cities. The event features talks, displays, and a dance at the Winter Garden hosted by the Butte Exchange club in honor of President Sewell.
The house post office sub committee unanimously approved reducing air mail postage to 5 cents per ounce from the current 10 cents per half ounce. The action was taken in Washington on February 6.
Warren J. Glover announces a special airmail stamp to commemorate Lindberghs proposed flight from St. Louis to Chicago on Feb 20 and return Feb 21. The stamps will go on sale nationwide and urging public posting of mail to be carried by Lindbergh.
