Farmer Cle Prescott Injured In Farm Wagon Accident
Mil ford township resident Cle Prescott fell from a high grain wagon when wheels hit a road stump. He suffered four broken ribs and possible fatal injuries with peritonitis developing despite surgical care. Dr McCarthy consulted as his condition worsened.

Henry H. Porch born in 1851 Kentucky died after brief illness in Corning California. He lived in Ames from 1868 to 1877 and is remembered by many old residents. Survived by wife, sister Mrs Anna Giddings of Chicago, and two brothers Thomas and Edwin Porch.

Story County Teachers Association Central Meeting Planned
The executive committee of the Story County Teachers Association led by County Superintendent Scott and Supt F A Nims of Nevada schools has prepared a program for the central meeting in the city on Friday and Saturday October 8 and 9 in the high school assembly room. Glen Maxwell, convicted last week of attempting to commit rape, was arrested Tuesday evening by Sheriff Warrick and jailed for thirty days for an old offense. The sentence followed court orders as Maxwell awaited today’s scheduled sentencing. He had been out on bond for months.

Assailant Sentenced After Drastic Assault Incident
Edward O Keeffe, formerly employed by R C De La Hunt, was found guilty of assault and battery after striking H C Smith, an engineer at the Northwestern pumping station, with iron piping. Smith remains partially paralyzed. Judge Albrook sentenced O Keeffe to 30 days, saying the jury verdict limited his options and expressing belief the penalty should have been heavier. Public opinion favors more justice over law in this case.
