Fred Burg a 17 year old farm boy working for Tom Barbour stole 15 dollars from Leslie Homan another Barbour employee. He was captured within hours, arraigned on Saturday and chose 15 days in county jail over a 50 dollar fine. The incident ends with a note on the Zenor feed store being torn down for a new post office.

Allen's Father Victim of Fire
Shirley Allen a senior forestry student at Iowa State College and S A E member was summoned to Des Moines Tuesday by news that his father Walter O. Allen of 2411 West Fifth Street died in a basement fire at the Dodd and Struthers building on 6th Avenue. The 60 year old retired Methodist minister had recently become a night watchman there. Fire began in a paper pile in the basement and he may have perished from gas after fighting the flames. his body was found at the foot of the basement stairs with little damage elsewhere.
