Law Appointed City Inspector for Waterloo Dairy

Fred Law, senior veterinary student, was named Waterloo Iowa city dairy inspector at a starting salary of 1200 dollars with future raises. Dean Stange praised Law as the most competent veterinary student for dairy product purity while highlighting his athletic leadership and work with the U S Bureau of Animal Industry. He completes college June first and reports to Waterloo to begin duties. Mrs Frank Linebaugh has been ill recently.

Exceeded Speed Limit Man Arrested in Nevada

Herbert Dawson of Nevada was arrested for speeding in his father’s Overland through the city. He ignored a hearing notice, a county warrant issued, and he will answer to a speeding charge under state law. Also mention of Dr. A B Maxwell buying a Maxwell runabout and C W Dudgeon suffering a neck abscess.

Library reception pleases during enlarged quarters

The library board held an open house in its enlarged quarters on Tuesday evening. Members present greeted visitors and guided them through the new spaces while Cramblits Orchestra provided music in the assembly room.

A thief took a trunk belonging to a cook who arrived Monday to start work at the depot lunch counter. The incident occurred as the new employee prepared to begin duties.

Herbert Dawson Jr of Nevada drove an Overland onto a sidewalk near Story County bank. The incline caused the car to roll forward and strike a trolley pole, shattering an auto lamp. A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs H M Duckworth last Saturday.

Prisoners Confiscate Beer From Keg During City Hall Sobering

Freeman Myers arrived from Boone last Saturday with a quart of alcohol and spent Sunday at the city hall annex. Prisoners used a stove poker to puncture a keg of Milwaukee's Best beer and, with outside help, sampled the supply throughout the Sabbath. By nightfall the keg was nearly empty and Myers began a three day sentence on Monday.

Thieves Take Trunk From Baggage Room In Depot Park

A trunk was stolen from in front of the baggage room and carried to Depot Park where it was broken open and several items of gentleman’s wearing apparel were removed. The remainder of the contents were left scattered. no clues yet available.

Pratt accepts Ames gas franchise to spur city improvements

E G Pratt filed with the city clerk on Tuesday to accept the gas franchise authorized by ordinance. He has nine months to act, and the move signals another major improvement for Ames, accelerating the city's progress toward better and greater things.

Company Boys Won Match

Cummins Rifles a college boys military company challenged the marksmen of Company C to an indoor match in the Armory last Friday evening. A large crowd attended as Captain Knapp of Company C invited spectators. The two 200 yard events two 300 yard events and a 500 yard event preceded a brisk shootout ending with Company C winning by 70 points. After a late night altercation in a college restaurant Alfred Roh a ditcher for R C De La Hunt received six stitches to a facial wound James Peregoy a fellow ditcher wielded the knife and fled the area Rob remained hospitalized Peregoy is at large following the fight last Monday night in Boone filed reports say both men had drawn pay and visited Boone earlier that evening.

Stockholders of the Chau tauq ua park association meet at city hall next Tuesday to draft articles of incorporation for the new body. A report shows large stock subscriptions for Maxwell's grove 14 acre tract offered at 6000 dollars, with a likely close soon. Prominent business and professional men back the plan and town and country residents are urged to attend.

Beer keg mishap lands two laborers in legal trouble

Jim Finnegan and John Burke faced the Milwaukee police after a Saturday trip to Boone county for eight gallons of beer. Burke dropped the keg on his foot injuring himself as Finnegan served a three day hard labor sentence, then vanished from the street.
