Library benefit evening opens gifts and inspection

Guests enjoyed the evening as the rest room, not yet open for use, was thrown open for inspection and admired. Tiny red, white and blue ribbon favors adorned the event. About forty books were donated to the library by the committee led by Mrs Hardin, Miss Cassie Lincoln, and Miss.

Target Firing Contest Between Ames Unit and Des Moines Group

An indoor shooting contest between Company C of Ames and the Cummins Rifles of Des Moines is scheduled for tomorrow night at the Armory starting at 8 p.m. The event pits two local organizations in a precision firing competition with spectators invited.

Ames high school held the junior senior reception at the Odd Fellows hall with Miss Shattuck delivering a featured reading before an audience of over a hundred. The baseball team defeated Nevada 3 to 2 in a fast clean game with Smithy and Hill as the batteries. Martha McDaniel obituary

Martha C McDaniel was born in Quincy Illinois March 11 1831 and died at her home west of Ames April 30 1909. She left six children three living. Her husband had died earlier. She belonged to the Christian church. Funeral services were held at the house Sunday afternoon by Rev Houser. Interment was in Ontario cemetery.
